Soviets Commemorate Andropov’s Birthday
From Reuters
MOSCOW —
The late Soviet President Yuri V. Andropov has been commemorated with a bronze bust in his southern home town of Nagutsk on what would have been his 71st birthday, the official Tass news agency reported Saturday.
The bust is the latest in a series of tributes to his 15-month rule, showing he has not fallen into the official obscurity that often engulfs Soviet leaders after their deaths.
A one-hour film commemorating his life is to be shown in Soviet theaters and on television today.
