A neo-Nazi group has taken responsibility for spray-painting a black swastika and the words “Kill Jews” on the front door of actor Ed Asner’s Studio City home, according to police. Sgt. Fred Reynolds said an anonymous caller told a United Press International reporter at 5:45 a.m. Saturday that the attack was the work of an organization called National Socialist Liberation Front. Reynolds said the caller referred to Asner as a “Jewish communist pig” and threatened to attack the home again if Asner continued his activities “in the interest of international communism and Zionism.” Asner, an actor best known for his roles on the “Mary Tyler Moore” and “Lou Grant” television shows, is president of the Screen Actors Guild and an active spokesman for various liberal causes. Reynolds said Asner was not inside the house at the time of the attack and that no further damage was discovered. Asner could not be reached for comment.
