A woman accused in the 1981 robbery of a Brink’s armored truck in New York refused to take the legal oath at her arraignment on a prison escape charge Monday, and told a federal magistrate she would answer only “relevant” questions.

Marilyn Jean Buck, identified by the FBI as the only white member of the Black Liberation Army, is accused of failing to return to the federal women’s prison in Alderson after a furlough granted in June, 1977. She was arrested in New York on May 11.

Buck also has been charged with participating, after her escape, in the Brink’s holdup in which a guard and two policemen were killed. Federal officials have decided to try her first on the escape charge.
