Robert E. Anslow has been appointed general manager of Plessey Solid State, an Irvine electronics manufacturer that is the North American division of Plessey Semiconductors Ltd. of Swindon, England. Anslow, 52, former director of strategic planning for the Semiconductor Products Division of Rockwell International, replaces Dennis Chant, who left to pursue personal projects, according to a company spokeswoman.

Bill A. Mathrani has been appointed vice president of Emulex Corp.’s new Storage Products unit, where he will be responsible for product marketing and engineering of data storage controllers and subsystems sold primarily to Digital Equipment Corp., where Mathrani was previously an engineering manager. Emulex is a Costa Mesa computer hardware manufacturer.

Studio Software Corp. of Irvine has named Norman Denton national sales manager and John Murphy national accounts manager, both new positions. Denton, 45, was previously vice president of sales and marketing for Printel Inc. in Milpitas, and Murphy, 42, was president of Software Marketing Systems in San Mateo.

Robert E. Hilchey has been named to the new post of vice president of quality assurance for Rockwell International’s Defense Electronics Operations, based in Anaheim. Hilchey, 56, was vice president of operations for DEO and is succeeded in that job by Herm M. Reininga, 56, who was vice president of production operations for DEO’s Collins Defense Communications in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

John Flynn has been appointed president of McCarthy/Newport Beach, a new division of McCarthy Construction. Flynn, 44, previously worked at the company’s St. Louis headquarters, where he was vice president of special projects.
