Baptist Church to Observe Its 50th Birthday

Calvary Baptist Church of Bellflower will celebrate its 50th anniversary and the 22nd anniversary of its pastor, H. Frank Collins, during services at 9:45 a.m. Sunday at the church, 14722 Clark St.

Originally known as the First Fundamental Church of Bellflower, the congregation was founded by Baptist minister Tru Maxwell. In the summer of 1963, Collins was invited to become pastor of Calvary Baptist. He has pastored in Franklin, Ind., and Greenville, S.C., and has served as assistant to the president of the Baptist Bible College in Springfield, Mo. Collins has a doctor of divinity degree from Bob Jones University.
