The two firms said they have selected Camas, Wash., as the site of a $200-million plant that will make integrated circuits for electronic equipment. The plant will be operated by a partnership, known as RCA-Sharp Microelectronics. The partnership is believed to be the first of its kind between American and Japanese makers of integrated circuits. It is expected that production will begin in volume during the second quarter of 1987.
