SO LONG, DAD

“FIVE-O.” Hank Williams Jr. Warner/Curb. If you’re anywhere near being a Williams fan, you’ll like this record, which cements his reputation just behind Willie Nelson in the hard-country sweepstakes. Enjoy diversity in your outlaw country? Williams does a version of “Ain’t Misbehavin’ ” that slides nicely up against a rollicking “I Really Like Girls” (fired up by George Thorogood’s slide guitar). And revelation? Check out his rendition of Warren Zevon’s “Lawyers, Guns and Money,” to which NRA supporter Williams lends more than a little credence. “Five-O” has enough corn pone for the straight-country market too. Most remarkably, Williams has made an album without one direct reference to his daddy.
