Latvian Named to Head Key Soviet Department

MOSCOW —
The Kremlin has appointed a new chief for the Interior Ministry’s criminal investigation department, the government newspaper Izvestia reported Saturday.
Bruno Shteinbrik, 52, the former first deputy interior minister in the Baltic republic of Latvia, took the new job a few months ago, but his appointment was not reported until now.
