A U.S. House of Representatives subcommittee will hold at least one hearing into overdue tax returns and other problems with the Internal Revenue Service, an aide to U.S. Rep. Bill Lowery (R-San Diego) announced Wednesday.

The House Appropriations subcommittee on the Treasury-postal-general government operations panel will schedule the hearing for sometime after mid-July to explore problems with the IRS, including computer errors that have prompted the agency to pay out a record $210 million in interest because of overdue refunds, said Lowery aide Dan Greenblat.

The hearing was scheduled at Lowery’s request, Greenblat said.
