As many as 10 offices of distributors of sexually explicit films have been raided, according to police and film company executives. Executives at two of the companies said police told them that one target of the raids was films showing sexual bondage. Capt. James Docherty, commander of the police Administrative Vice Division, said Chief Daryl F. Gates would announce the results of the raids this week. Docherty would not discuss the specific reason for the current series of raids, but said: “We have certain areas that are definitely obscene. Oral copulation, rape, sadomasochism . . . these are patently obscene and when we have information that a film is within these guidelines we go after it.”
