Wet 'n Wild Park Opens in Las Vegas

The $14-million, 26-acre Wet 'n Wild, the first major non-gambling attraction on the Las Vegas Strip, has opened between the Sahara and El Rancho hotels.

The developer is Wet 'n Wild Inc., headed by George D. Millay, who built the first Wet 'n Wild park in Orlando, Fla., and the second in Arlington, Tex., near Dallas. The general contractor was Harper Development & Construction Co., San Diego. Ronald D. Harper, head of the firm, was development director under Millay at San Diego's Sea World before starting his own construction firm 11 years ago.

Wet 'n Wild amusement park was designed by Buss, Silvers, Hughes & Associates. The landscape architect was Wimmer Yamada Associates. Both firms are based in San Diego.
