Factory Houses Register Drop
Eight percent fewer manufactured homes were shipped to permanent sites during the first three months this year than during the same quarter in 1984, according to the Manufactured Housing Institute.
The number of first-quarter units shipped dropped from 67,574 in 1984, to 62,131 this year, figures from the National Conference of States on Building Codes and Standards Inc. showed.
For the first three quarters of the 1984-85 period, 4,020 units were shipped to the Pacific region, compared with 4,733 for the corresponding period the previous year; the Mountain region declined from 4,895 to 3,844, and the South Atlantic region almost held its own with a drop from 24,482 to 24,374.
