Cruising China
The article by Michael Carlton really annoys me. My husband age 76 and his very young wife (age 62) visited China for 12 days last year. We like to travel and there are few countries in the world we haven’t visited at least once or twice. We have our own rating system from 1 to 10, and we give China 9 plus. This was one of the most interesting and rewarding trips we have ever taken. We slept at Chinese hotels, we ate Chinese food in Chinese restaurants, and we shared the fascinating everyday life directly with the Chinese people. Your correspondent totally missed the meaning and the richness of a visit to China. Travel on a luxury liner is a cop-out. It’s almost like seeing China by watching a travelogue in a theater.
