Laguna Beach : Commercial-Residential Project Hearing Tonight

Share

General Plan amendments and zoning changes that would permit the construction of a mixed commercial-residential development in downtown Laguna Beach will come before the City Council tonight for a public hearing and a vote.

Proposed for the 25,000-square-foot site is a four-level building that would house office suites, underground parking and several apartments. The new structure would incorporate a bank building now on the Beach Street and Broadway site.

The 15 one-bedroom and studio apartments would be reserved for low-income senior citizens and would rent for between $400 and $600 a month, according to Morris Skenderian, the architect retained by the developer, First American Bank & Trust Co. of Laguna Beach.
