Coast Savings Realigns Its Management

Coast Savings & Loan Assn. promoted several executives and realigned management responsibilities in a move to streamline operations, the Los Angeles-based S&L; announced Tuesday.

Named senior executive vice presidents were Jerome Nussbaum and John M. Yunker Jr. Both will report directly to Coast President and Chief Executive Ray Martin.

Nussbaum, who has been with the S&L; for five years, will continue to be responsible for its finance/management information systems group and will add oversight of Coast’s six main subsidiaries, including Coast Fed Mortgage Corp., Coast Mortgage & Realty Investors, CoastFed Properties and others.

Yunker, who joined the company last September from Lincoln S&L;, Los Angeles, where he was president and chief operating officer, will be responsible for Coast’s savings and lending groups and the legal division.

Robert L. Hunt II was named executive vice president and chief financial officer. He is being succeeded as senior vice president-finance by Charles C. McCain.

Additionally, Larry Merich joins Coast as senior vice president-management information systems, and Robert Scott becomes senior vice president and general counsel.

LOS ANGELES COUNTY

Jeffrey F. Lang has been elected president of Grefco Inc., Torrance, a unit of Bala Cynwyd, Pa.-based General Refractories Co. He replaces Robert W. Smith, who remains chairman, president and chief executive of the parent company.

Four new vice presidents were also named at Grefco. They are: Charles J. Vogelsang, operations; Delmar J. Knox, marketing, filtration products; David L. Ruff, marketing, specialty products, and Melvin J. Mirliss, technical.

Bradford L. Calhoun was named executive producer of Omnibus Computer Graphics, with headquarters at Paramount Pictures’ Studio G in Hollywood. He previously was associate director of the School of Cinema-Television at USC.

CALIFORNIA

William Culp was named president of Medication Services Inc., San Rafael.

Modulation Associates, Mountain View, named Peter I. Jorgensen vice president-operations. The company produces satellite transmission systems.

Daniel F. Maddox has been appointed a regional vice president for Wells Fargo Bank, with responsibility for the San Francisco-based bank’s commercial lending business in San Bernardino and Riverside counties.

H. Russell Henson has been appointed president of the FSB Insurance Agency, a division of Financial Corp. of Santa Barbara, parent of Santa Barbara Savings & Loan Assn.

Michael F. O’Neill was named executive vice president and senior investment officer for G. T. Capital Management, San Francisco.

NATION

Purolator Courier Corp., an express-delivery service based in Basking Ridge, N.J., elected C. Howard Hardesty Jr. president and chief executive.

He replaces William H. Waltrip, who resigned to join another company.
