Fountain Valley Boy, 3, Drowns in Backyard Spa
A Fountain Valley child drowned in a backyard spa Wednesday, despite frantic efforts by police and paramedics to revive him.
Michael F. Budds, who had wandered away from family members and a housekeeper while playing in his backyard, was discovered face down at the bottom of the spa shortly after 1 p.m. by one of his brothers, according to Officer Larry Field.
The 3-year-old boy failed to respond to cardiopulmonary resuscitation administered by Officer Kevin McKeown and was rushed to Pacifica Community Hospital in Huntington Beach, where he was pronounced dead less than an hour later, Field added.
