Forecaster Says: ‘You Want Clouds, We Got Clouds’

There will be lots of clouds and little sunshine through Sunday in all areas of San Diego except in inland areas, where it will continue to be clear and warm, according to the National Weather Service.

The high-pressure system--responsible for a four-day heat wave earlier this week that caused record-breaking temperatures in downtown San Diego and more than 100-degree heat in the inland areas--has moved east, allowing the marine layer to form again.

Now, a “mini” low-pressure system, or coastal eddy, has moved off the shore and will create fog and low clouds at the coast, said Wally Cegiel, a forecaster.

“You want clouds, we got clouds,” Cegiel said. “And it looks like it’s going to stay through the weekend.”

The low clouds may burn off in coastal areas by mid-afternoon, creating hazy sunshine and patchy cloudiness, Cegiel said. Daytime temperatures will be about 71 to 77 degrees today and Sunday. Overnight lows will be about 65.
