LEAF LIVES!

Ever since I was lucky enough to get three letters published in Calendar in one day (Aug. 19, 1984) I have been persona non grata with The Times.

I have written about 20 letters on a variety of subjects (including rock ‘n’ roll) to the Editor, Calendar and Jack Smith, not one of which has been printed. Coincidence? Diabolical plot? Who knows? I guess I’ll have to die in order to get my name back in the paper.

Since I have, therefore, been powerless to defend my Calendar-conferred title (inherited from the late Felix de Cola) of Los Angeles’ Leading Rock Hater, I was utterly delighted to read Stanley Slome’s superb pro-Dixieland anti-rock diatribe (Calendar Letters, June 23). Give ‘em hell, Stan! Somebody has to remind ‘em that rock is musical manure and the king has no clothes on!
