Security officers at Disneyland and Knott’s Berry Farm are receiving police training in an effort to keep gang violence out of their family oriented amusement parks. Rumbles at the Six Flags Magic Mountain amusement park in Valencia, in which six people were stabbed, and gang-related fighting outside Knott’s in Buena Park prompted the training effort by the Orange County amusement parks. Spokesmen for the two parks say the attractions have not yet had gang problems. The police gang specialist who trains the security officers, Rich Pena of the Buena Park police agrees, saying the training is preventive in nature. “If there’s a problem, we want to go out there and defuse it,” Pena said.
