In keeping with the city’s policy of changing mayors every nine months, George Barks relinquished his post as ceremonial mayor this week to Councilman Jack Wood. Barks presented Wood with a teddy bear wearing a T-shirt bearing the words, “I love Hermosa Beach.” Barks’ ended his third term as mayor and Wood began his first.
