Former President Gerald R. Ford, along with four business and education leaders, has been elected to the Pepperdine University Board of Regents, effective Sept. 10.
Ford received an honorary doctor of laws degree from Pepperdine in September, 1975, when he was keynote speaker at the dedication of the university’s Firestone Fieldhouse and Brock House, the school president’s official residence. His term as regent will expire in June, 1988.
Others elected to the board and the lengths of their terms are: Lowdrick M. Cook, newly appointed president of Atlantic Richfield Co., until June, 1986; David Davenport, Pepperdine’s new president, until June, 1987; Harold Hazelip, dean of the Harding Graduate School of Religion in Memphis, Tenn., until June, 1988, and Darrell M. Trent, chairman of the board of Rollins Environmental Services Inc. of Wilmington, Del., until June, 1988.
The 40-member board of regents is Pepperdine’s chief policy-making body. The board selects its own members.
