Support for Council

Share

I write in view of your article of June 13, which alerts San Diegans of the inevitability that the no-growth initiative will be on the November ballot.

Personally, I feel threatened by an initiative in which voters exercise power over something they really aren’t trained in or familiar with. The proponents of the no-growth initiative claim they want to hold the council and mayor accountable for their decisions on growth management due to the recent exceptions made in the managed growth plan. I am confused. Why do we voters bother to elect the council members if we can’t at least give support to the positions we elect them to? Of course these politicians are accountable for their actions, by the mere fact that they are elected representatives of this city.

Let’s help out the City of San Diego and lend some positive reinforcement to the elected representatives who are just trying to do their jobs.
