The article by Ahmad raises more questions than it answers. If the Shias were discriminated against by other Lebanese groups for the last 60-odd years, why kidnap Americans? Indeed, why attack Israelis? After all, the Israelis had entered Lebanon to push out the PLO who had also victimized the Shias.
And why are their tactics so remarkably like those of the Irish Republican Army or of the Red Brigades in Italy?
