Salvadoran rebels of the Farabundo Marti National Liberation Front claimed responsibility for freeing 149 inmates, including 13 jailed for political reasons, in an attack Friday on the La Mariona prison on the outskirts of San Salvador. Prison director Francisco Alfonso Torres said that dynamite was used to blast a hole on the wall while about 100 guerrillas attacked with mortars and grenades.
