Reagan Creates Panel on Pentagon Purchasing

BETHESDA, Md. —
In his first official act since undergoing surgery last Saturday, President Reagan signed an executive order Monday formally establishing a commission seeking ways to improve Pentagon purchasing practices, an aide said.
Creation of the panel was announced June 17, when Reagan said he would appoint industrialist David Packard as its chairman.
