Local News in Brief : No Conflict Found in Gee’s Suit of Airport

Share

The Burbank city attorney has issued an opinion that the appointment of Margie Gee to the Burbank Airport commission does not conflict with her participation in two homeowner suits against the airport.

Gee called the attorney’s ruling “a lovely clean bill of health.”

In a statement released Monday, attorney Douglas C. Holland said Gee may participate in any action by the Burbank-Glendale-Pasadena Airport Authority as long as the action does not directly affect suits filed by Gee and several hundred other homeowners seeking damages for lowered property values and nuisance from the airport.

Burbank Mayor Mary Lou Howard had asked that a legal opinion be sought to determine if Gee’s involvement in the homeowner suits would conflict with her ability to vote on issues before the commission. Howard, who has sought to solidify Gee’s position, said a final opinion will be requested from the state Fair Political Practices Commission.

Gee has said she is willing to withdraw from the suits if asked to do so.
