Owners of more than 26,000 stores have applied to sell state lottery tickets, the California Lottery Commission reported. About 20,000 outlets will be chosen to handle tickets when the games begin in late September, lottery spokesman John Schade said. Successful applicants will be taught how to sell the tickets. Vendors will receive 5 cents for every $1 ticket sold and possible incentive bonuses.
