Anaheim police said they are still unable to establish a motive for the actions of Dalene Akemi Ozeki, who took her own life after killing one of her daughters and trying to kill another. The 38-year-old woman stabbed herself to death Sunday after strangling and then stabbing 11-year-old Kelli Ozeki to death and inflicting a serious stab wound on Kelli’s 15-year-old sister, Alison, according to Anaheim Police Sgt. John Haradon. “We know how it happened, where it happened and when,” Haradon said. “We don’t know why.” He said detectives have looked into the possibility that the deaths and attempted murder were part of the oyako-shinju tradition--the parent-child suicide that occurs frequently in Japan, but have rejected it as unlikely.
