A hearing on the storage of petroleum coke has been set for Aug. 5.
The hearing will address current storage of petroleum coke on property owned by Watson Land Co., as well as a proposed ordinance that would prohibit any new storage of the coal-like substance in Carson without a permit. Residents have complained that dust from the coke piles has blanketed their neighborhoods.
