Soviets Studying AIDS, Scientist Says

A Soviet scientist said Sunday that major research into AIDS is under way, the first indication that the deadly disease has spread to the Soviet Union.

Academician R. Petrov, writing in the newspaper Moscow Pravda, did not openly admit that acquired immune deficiency syndrome exists in the Soviet Union, but said danger exists from three types of immunity deficiencies--hereditary, that caused by another illness and AIDS.
