Three commemorative coins to help pay for the $200-million restoration of the Statue of Liberty will be available to the public in February, U.S. Treasurer Katherine Ortega said at a Beverly Hills press conference. She said the $5 gold coin will sell for $175, the $1 silver coin will sell for $24 and the 50-cent piece for $7.50. The coins, authorized by Congress, will bear pictures of the statue, Ellis Island and immigrants. Ortega said 9 million of the special coins will be struck, about 500,000 of them gold.
