T A 17-year-old youth suspected of a double murder in Ohio and who was wounded last month in a desert gunfight with police has died, authorities said. Harold Pullen, also known as Harold Smith, died at San Bernardino County Medical Center nearly a month after he was shot in the head by a traffic officer near Needles, sheriff’s officials said. Smith was shot while trying to elude a traffic officer. Police later discovered that the car Smith was driving at the time had been stolen from Dr. Robert Craig, 72, and his wife, Helen, 73, who were shot to death June 24 in Dayton, Ohio. Smith was also wanted for questioning in the disappearance of Mary Perrine, 52, also of Dayton.
