Heart-Lung Transplant Patient Dies of Infection

PITTSBURGH —
A 14-year-old Oklahoma girl, the nation’s youngest patient to survive a heart-lung transplant, died Thursday of an acute infection, a hospital spokesman said.
Elizabeth Burns of Norman, Okla., underwent the dual transplant June 12 at Presbyterian-University Hospital and was released on July 4. She was later re-admitted because of the infection.
