The Orange County Hunger Lifeline plans to form a 10-mile human chain today to raise money for famine relief in Africa.

Stretching from Fountain Valley to Yorba Linda, the expected 10,000 participants will begin the “passing of the grain” at 8:30 a.m. in Centennial Park and follow the Santa Ana River bike trail until it reaches Yorba Linda Regional Park at approximately 1 p.m. Communion will follow.

Twelve collection tables along the route will accept sheets, food, money, clothing and other reusable items. Clothing, food and 10% of the money collected will be given to Share Our Selves, an Orange County relief agency.

The remaining money will be donated to World Vision for emergency grain stocks, distribution trucks and medical supplies in drought-stricken Africa.
