Professors in the California State University system will get a 9% salary increase for 1985-86 under a new tentative contract agreement. The nation’s largest university system, with 316,000 students on 19 campuses and 38,000 employees, also reached tentative agreements with unions representing support staff and skilled laborers, spokesman Charles Davis said. The agreements will be signed after they are adopted by the CSU Board of Trustees and ratified by union members, he said. Academic Professionals of California, which represents 1,400 academic support employees, reached a tentative two-year agreement providing an average salary raise of 7.1% retroactive to July 1, a 5% raise Jan. 1 next year and improved dental benefits. The State Employees Trade Council agreed to a one-year contract retroactive to July 1 that includes an across-the-board wage increase of 6.2% for its 800 members.
