The San Bernardino City Unified School District has agreed to pay a $6,000 penalty for violating a law regulating the use of asbestos in schools, according to a spokesman for the Environmental Protection Agency. The district agreed to pay the fine by Aug. 30 and already has proven compliance with the Asbestos-in-School Rule, which requires school districts around the country to pay for analysis of crumbling material in every district building and to keep records of the results.
