Cuba is the only unbeaten team after five days of play in the first United States Open Amateur Baseball Tournament at Angels Stadium in Palm Springs.

Cuba is making its first appearance in the United States since winning the Pan American Games at Chicago in 1959. Cuba, which won the world amateur title last October at Havana, leads the Blue Division with a 3-0 record. Also in the Blue Division is South Korea (1-3, including a 2-1 loss to Cuba), and two semipro clubs, the San Diego Stars (1-2) and the Ventura Royals (1-2).

Taiwan is 3-1, and Australia is 2-1 in the White Division. Also competing in the White Division are two semipro teams, the San Bernardino Pioneers (2-2)) and the Orange County A’s (1-3).
