Liza Minnelli, who has won an Academy Award and three Tony Awards, will star in her first TV movie next season, “Intensive Care.” She’ll play a mother who must come to terms with the fact that her young son is fatally ill.

David Soul, who starred in the TV movie “World War III,” has a leading role in a new NBC movie, “The Gold Crew,” which also involves a crisis that could lead to World War III. He plays the commander of a Trident submarine with 24 warhead missiles who finds himself at odds during a war drill with a troubled officer (played by Robert Conrad).

Procter & Gamble Productions is developing a series of dramatic specials that it hopes to sell to one of the networks under the umbrella title of “Great American Women.” The company says the adjective great doesn’t necessarily mean the women profiled will be famous, merely that their ambition and accomplishments were extraordinary.

Robert Stack and his wife, Rosemary, will be the hosts of “It’s a Great Life,” a new syndicated daytime series due in the fall. It’s yet another show about being rich, focusing on what the producers describe as “the attainment of elegance and the graciousness so lavishly maintained by the social and financial elite.”
