Monitor Labs reported a 76% drop in second-quarter earnings, to $17,066, on revenues of $2.5 million, up 32%. For the six months, earnings dropped 59% to $55,329, while revenues rose 21% to $4.6 million. Operating profits in the second quarter were about five times the comparable figure in the prior year, officials said. The earnings drop was attributed to a $300,000 investment in Monitor’s new automatic inspection equipment division, which was purchased earlier this year.
