Avco Financial Services Inc., a consumer finance company based in Newport Beach, said Thursday it has agreed to purchase Metro Finance Co. Inc., the Puerto Rico-based consumer finance company of Heller Overseas Corp., for undisclosed terms. Closing of the sale is scheduled for Sept 30.

Metro Finance Co. Inc. is the second largest consumer finance company in Puerto Rico where it operates 33 branch offices which made loans totalling $120 million in 1984. Avco Financial Services is an operating unit of Avco Corp., a wholly owned subsidiary of Textron Inc.
