Soviets Reportedly Halted Rock Concert
Soviet police ordered a Yugoslav rock group from the stage in mid-concert at the recent International Youth Festival in Moscow, a Belgrade newspaper reported Thursday.
Bajaga i Instruktori (Bajaga and the Instructors) was performing on an improvised stage in Moscow’s Gorky Park for about 100,000 Soviet rock fans, the daily Politika Ekspres reported.
“Everything seemed normal, with the public swaying and chanting. . . . It seemed this caused a panic among the police,” it quoted group leader Momcilo Bajagic as saying.
The band was part of the Yugoslav delegation to the festival, held in Moscow from July 27 to Aug. 3.
