Coalition Formed to Protest Interim Management of Center for Disabled

Parents and agencies affiliated with the San Gabriel Valley Regional Center for the Developmentally Disabled have formed an organization called the Coalition of 120 Days, which wants to shorten the one-year contract of an agency that has been appointed to serve them.

Coalition leader Bonnie Clemans said the group plans to take legal action against the state Department for Developmental Services unless the department shortens the contract it granted Inland Regional Center, the San Bernardino County agency now running the San Gabriel Valley Regional Center.

The coalition claims that Inland’s one-year contract is in violation of a state law that sets 120 days for interim management when a regional center changes leadership. A spokesman for Developmental Disabilities Area Board 10, which oversees the seven regional centers in Los Angeles County, said the board will support the coalition in its litigation.
