Bernard Kogon; Retired Probation Dept. Official
Bernard Kogon, retired training director of the Los Angeles County Probation Department and an acknowledged authority in the field of corrections and social work, has died at his home in Santa Monica of cancer.
Kogon, 74, retired in 1972 after 15 years of county service in which he developed work study programs for prospective social workers and hired consulting psychologists to assist in corrections programs. He died Aug. 7.
In 1960 he was named by the International Cooperation Administration as social welfare consultant to the Republic of South Korea. Earlier he been a social worker supervisor in New York and worked for the California Department of Social Welfare.
He is survived by his wife Edith, son Ted, daughter Isa, three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
