Thanks for two excellent Editorial Pages articles (July 22).

Every Washington politician, corporation executive, and union labor leader should receive a copy of the incisive article on America’s industrial erosion by Ernest Conine. It may not be too late to stop our slide into economic oblivion.

I was greatly disheartened by the personality profile on White House Chief of Staff Donald T. Regan by Joseph Kraft. It is disturbing to realize that our great nation is currently being run by men who, despite their proven abilities in other fields, are so abysmally ignorant of the basic economic facts of life. Final blame, of course, falls upon an Administration similarly afflicted.
