Car Crashes in ‘Fall Guy’ Stunt; 3 Hurt

A car being used in filming of a stunt for “The Fall Guy” TV series crashed into two cameramen and burst into flames this morning, seriously injuring three people, authorities reported.

The stunt car, being filmed at about 11 a.m. on Woodley Avenue in Encino, jumped a ramp, flew over a parked truck and then hit the pavement hard about 100 feet from the truck. It was at that point that it swerved out of control, said witnesses, hitting the camera crew.

Fire spokesman Larry Ford said the driver was severely burned. He was taken to Sherman Oaks Community Hospital where officials said his condition is listed as critical with burns on his face, right arm, and back. They identified him as John Cade, 33, of Sylmar.

The two cameramen were taken to Northridge Hospital Medical Center, where officials said each had suffered a broken leg. They were identified as Robert King, 30, and Donald McCuaig, 42.

One member of the crew, an associate director, was carried on the hood of the out-of-control car for about 100 feet before being flipped into a nearby corn field.

It was not immediately known whether the stars of the ABC series, Lee Majors and Doug Barr, were at the scene.
