School Drug Stings by Police Supported
I support the San Diego police for their actions in going undercover in the San Diego Unified School District. (“Suit Aims to Block School Drug Stings,” Aug. 14).
The selling of drugs on campus has to stop.
The ACLU says it (the program) is not “designed to deal effectively with the drug problem by identifying and capturing the people who callously deal drugs to make money.”
Mr. Marshall (legal director for the San Diego ACLU) said “Instead (it) is intended to capture the maximum number possible of gullible, basically innocent kids who can be enticed by somebody they think is a friend to help their friend find a few joints.”
Well Mr. Marshall, how and where do you think drug dealing starts with these kids?
Change the word (it) meaning the program for “drug dealers” and see how it reads, the “drug dealer’s intent is to capture the maximum number possible of gullible, basically innocent kids who can be enticed by somebody they think is a friend to help their friend find a few joints.”
Furthermore, as for violating the “students constitutional rights to privacy, free association and freedom from unreasonable searches,” they gave up those rights when they become involved in illegal activities.
Possibly through these actions more parents will become aware of what is happening to our kids.
When they become involved in drugs they need all our help.
I agree with Police Chief Bill Kolender; the ACLU lawyers are “extremely ignorant.”
