Western Plaza Work to Start

Ground will be broken Tuesday for the new $4.7-million Western Plaza office building, a project of developer/builder Romar Building Corp. in partnership with Western Plaza Associates Ltd.

The site is at 18726 Western Ave., Torrance, adjacent to the San Diego Freeway in the rapidly expanding 190th Street development area. Estimated completion is the summer of 1986, with Coldwell Banker assigned as the leasing agent.

Designed by Matlin + Dvoretzky, Santa Monica, the four-story, 45,000-square-foot building will have curved parapets and an external curtain wall of precast concrete panels, and the design will allow for nine corner offices per floor.
