Shop Center in Ventura Under Way

Work is under way on an $11-million shopping center at Telephone Road and East Main Street.

Owned by Ventura businessmen John Taft and W .E. Hartman, the Poinsettia Plaza is scheduled for completion Nov. 1. Construction cost will be about $6.5 million.

The center will contain 20 retail stores; major tenants named are Ross Stores Inc., a clothing retailer; Federated Group Inc., a home electronics discounter, and Lamps Plus, a lighting-fixture store.

The three stores will take up most of the center’s 105,000 square feet of floor space, with 35,000 square feet reserved for smaller shops, each ranging from 1,000 to 3,000 square feet.
