Gordon Nielson, president of fast-growing Clothestime Inc. for the last three years, will resign his post effective Sept. 13, the company announced Tuesday.

Since January, Nielson has gradually turned responsibility for the day-to-day direction of Clothestime over to the company’s executive committee. That four-man committee, which includes Michael P. DeAngelo, board chairman and co-founder, will continue to direct the company’s daily operations. Other committee members are Raymond DeAngelo, John Ortega and William Mowbray, senior vice president and chief financial officer.

Nielson, who became president in September, 1982, will maintain his seat on the company’s board of directors and will serve as a consultant. He began his association with the company as a consultant.
