Michael P. Sutherland, a former vice president of engineering and development for Vector Graphic, has rejoined the Westlake Village-based personal computer company as its president and chief executive. Vector Graphic had been without a president since April 8, when Bernard Horn resigned.

Sutherland, 42, worked for Vector for two years before leaving in January to join Corona Data Systems in Thousand Oaks as a vice president. Sutherland said he is uncertain whether he will remain with Vector Graphic if it completes its agreement in principle to merge with Dual Systems Control, a private, Berkeley-based computer company.

Vector, once one of the nation’s high-flying computer companies, employs about 35 people now, down from several hundred three years ago. During the nine months ended April 2, the company lost $5 million on sales of $4.3 million.
